L W R Gifts of Hope -- Fall In-Gathering

   Back to school shopping season is beginning! Garage sale season is well underway! Here are a few ways that you can support this three star rated International project that gives aid, comfort and hope to thousands of people in many countries each year.

   Our LWR Work Group collects and assembles items into the following types of kits. Your contributions make these Gifts of Hope possible. The most needed items are in bold print.

School Kits:
A completed  kit contains these elements:

  • School bag (kits are available to sew!)

  • 150-200 sheet packs of lined paper

  • School scissors

  • 8-24 pack crayons

  • Colored construction paper

  • 12" ruler w/ centimeter markings

  • Pencil sharpener

  • 3" eraser

  • 6 unsharpened pencils

Health Kits:
A completed  kit contains these elements:

  • Dark colored hand towel

  • Wash cloth

  • Wrapped bar of soap

  • Wide toothed comb

  • Toothpaste (not from China)

  • Nail clipper w/file

  • 5 Band-Aids

  • Toothbrush

  • Bath-size towels are welcome & often a better buy than hand towels. Each makes 3 hand towels!

Layettes:
A completed  kit contains these elements:

  • 4 cloth diapers

  • 2 diaper pins

  • 2 wash cloths

  • Sweater or baby jacket

  • 2 blankets

  • Baby soap or Dove

  • Two shirts or onesies

  • Two gowns or jimmies

  • Clothing Sizes 6 to 24 months - New or gently used. We CANNOT send baby quilts.

Sewing Kits:
A completed  kit contains these elements:

  • 3-4 yards cotton or cotton blend fabric

  • Large spool matching thread

  • Package of sewing needles

  • 6 matching or coordinating buttons 

  • In addition to providing fabric for clothing, Sewing kits are often used to facilitate the start of small businesses that provide refugees an opportunity to begin a new, self-sufficient life

  • Blankets and Quilts - 60" x 80" -- New or gently used - larger OK

  • Cash Donation to purchase supplies welcome! Mark LWR Supplies on notation line

  • PLEASE NOTE: LWR no longer collects used clothing of any sort. Please make your donations to the charity of your choice.

The LWR Group meets most Thursdays year round.
We work during the afternoon throughout the school year and mornings during the Summer.
