Committees
Church members and staff serve on BSLC committees. The committee structure is designed to manage the operations of the church and its mission. Committees also facilitate communication within the congregation and in some cases, the greater community.
Church Council
The church council is comprised of 12 church members plus Pastor Jaech. The church members are elected by the congregation at the church’s annual meeting. Council helps ensure the BSLC has the resources it needs to fulfill its mission. Council provides input and approval on operational and budgetary matters.
Nominating
The nominating committee is a subset of the church council responsible for identifying future candidates to serve on the council.
Human Resources
Committee members consult with Pastor Jaech on managing the staffing needs of the BSLC.
Worship and Music
Committee members, the Music Director, and Pastor Jaech guide decisions regarding liturgy, music program needs, special music opportunities, and the content and flow of the worship services.
Faith Formation
Along with the Faith Formation Director, committee members guide the content and delivery of BSLC education programs. They ensure programs have resources and that the congregation’s ideas are incorporated into the scope of programs offered.
Property
Committee members manage building and property maintenance including monitoring future needs.
Social Ministry
5% of BSLC offerings are donated to local and regional social service organizations. This committee manages these giving opportunities. Social Ministry also coordinates monthly Brown Bag Sundays. The congregation is given shopping bags and a request for a specific donation, such as school supplies, diapers, or socks, each month. The committee collects the brown bags filled with donations and distributes them to local organizations.
Outreach
This committee works to help each visitor to BSLC know they are a welcome guest. Committee members take extra time on Sunday to talk with visitors and give them their own Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church coffee mug as a gift.
Finance
These members manage the financial record-keeping and help the council and congregation understand the church’s financial status and any financial-related decisions to address.
Stewardship
Stewardship is giving of our time, talents, and treasure to support the work of the church. This committee coordinates an annual campaign inviting members to pledge a financial commitment to the church and to explore volunteer opportunities.
