Groups
BSLC cares for its members, friends and the community through a variety of groups. Groups offer opportunities to build relationships, serve others, grow in faith, learn, and enjoy recreation time.
Book Talk
An adult book discussion group that meets regularly to share their reflections on fiction and non-fiction books.
Care Team
Volunteers coordinate providing services to church members in need of assistance in a variety of ways, including transportation to and from church, delivering meals, sending cards, and providing CDs of church services.
Dinner Club
Individuals, couples, and families take turns hosting dinner in their homes. A schedule and rotation let everyone know when it is their turn to host and their turn to be a guest.
Green Team
Helps BSLC and its members care for God’s creation. The team provides regular educational information about what we can do at home and as a community to live a more sustainable lifestyle.
Lutheran World Relief
A year-round service project that assembles School kits, Health kits, Layettes, Sewing kits, and quilts. The items are distributed locally and internationally.
Mexico Mission
Each summer a team of volunteers from BSLC travels to Tijuana to build houses for local families. There is a place for anyone 16 years or older on the team. Members are not experts at building houses, but through God’s blessing, the houses are built, families have a place to call home, and team members come home with once-in-a-lifetime memories.
Peace and Justice
This group meets regularly to plan and engage in activities that lift up the most vulnerable in our community and those in need around the world. “PJs” manage a Fair Trade Coffee and Chocolate business, pack and deliver sack lunches to patients waiting at the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington, and build awareness of advocacy needs through drama, hosting educational discussions, and participating in the annual Vancouver Peace and Justice Fair.
ReGroup
Parents of children ages middle school and younger gather monthly for conversation, education, and support. Together they renew, refresh, reaffirm, recharge, and ReGroup!
Seniors on the Run
Seniors gather for recreation and fellowship several times throughout the year. Past excursions include a tour of the Guide Dog Training Facility and graduation ceremony in Troutdale and attending local theater productions.
Young Adults
This group meets throughout the year for social time and conversation. With no set age requirements, “young adults” is open to anyone who wishes to participate.
Softball
BSLC participates in a Lutheran Softball League. Games are played in Vancouver and run April through August. The team is open to members and friends of BSLC that are 16 and older. There are no official practice sessions and the emphasis is on fun, teamwork, and fellowship! Friends and family in the watching is always a bonus, so please come and cheer on the team.
Spanish Classes
Pastor Gomez, Pastor of Inglesia Faro De Luz, teaches beginning level Spanish classes as part of our Wednesday Nights at Church program.
