Winter Hospitality Overflow Program
Resumes This Winter

Once again the Winter Hospitality Overflow (WHO) Program is prepared to help the homeless by providing warm, safe, and clean shelter during the Winter months. St. Paul Lutheran in downtown Vancouver and St. Andrew Lutheran in Orchards are again providing the facility and opening their doors on a nightly basis from November through March. Other church communities and community organizations have committed to provide volunteers and food.

As before, St. Paul will host men by referral from the near-by men's shelter when the shelter is full. St. Andrew will host families, couples, and women referred from the family shelter in Orchards when it has no more space available. Warm meals are available at the regular shelters, and the overflow shelters can provide evening snacks, a cold breakfast, and sack lunches for their overnight guests.

Volunteer organizations are asked to commit to one week at a time, providing volunteers in shifts, and some food. Beautiful Savior will provide volunteers and food during the week of December 10th to 16th at St. Andrew.

Volunteer training will be provided to explain policies and procedures, and changes in the program from last year. One change is that we will schedule volunteers in 4 shifts, instead of 3, and another change is that more flexibility is being allowed in food provision.

Volunteer information is available in the narthex, and sign up sheets will be available in Sunday bulletins. Please return completed sheets to the church office.

For more information or if you have questions, you may call Joyce Catt about volunteering your time, and Joan Vincent about providing food. You can find their phone numbers in the member directory.
