Director of Youth and Family Ministry
Kirsten grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. During college, she worked at Camp Lutherwood Oregon as a summer counselor, which is how she first encountered Beautiful Savior Lutheran on day camp! Following graduation, she served internationally with Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) in Hungary, where she taught high school English, played with children after school at a family shelter, and sang in two choirs. In her free time, she likes spending time outside, and enjoys playing music and conversations over coffee. Kirsten is excited to work with the youth and families at BSLC, and to be a part of such a welcoming community!
Jordi Yokers graduated from Pacific Lutheran University where she sang in the Choir of the West and earned an education degree to be (among other specialties) a choir director. Cherub Choir/Sunday School Coordinator
Born in Upstate New York and raised in Port Charlotte, Florida, I grew up in a family that loved God, pizza, and dancing — tap, jazz, and ballet. My parents owned a pizza restaurant, and my mom also owned her own dance studio; by age 13, I was working at the restaurant and teaching dancing with my mom! After graduating from Florida Southern College with a BS in Communications, I traveled for a year with the international, non-profit organization, Up With People, promoting peace around the world through music and dance. I moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, at age 25, and earned my teaching credentials at the University of Hawaii and met my husband, Mark. Mark and I moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1996, and we are enjoying raising our sons, Mark and Derek, here in Vancouver. I joined Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in 2002 and have been teaching the Cherub Choir since 2006 and Sunday School since 2011. These opportunities enable me to combine my love for God, my love of children, and my love of music and dance! In both Cherub Choir and Sunday School, I hope that each week, the children will learn something exciting, make new friends, and have fun praising God through music and dance!
Jill is a lifelong Lutheran who enjoys getting involved in many aspects of church life. After filling in for Mariellen on occasion and loving the office, she became an Administrative Assistant for a different church in town. In her spare time Jill loves to craft, with her true love being crocheting.
I have attended BSLC for the last 26 years. It has been the most important and supportive place for me and my family. I choose to give back to this community by acting as the financial bookkeeper. I have been volunteering for this position for the majority of the last 20 years. I plan to continue to serve my congregation in this way indefinitely.
I am currently retired from my full time job and enjoy traveling and camping with my husband and our two dogs. I work part-time at the Moda Center in Portland,OR as a quest attendant. When I am at home I enjoy quilting, knitting and spending time with my family and friends. I have a daughter, son, daughter-in-law and three beautiful granddaughters.
I was born in Nyssa Oregon. My dad worked for the Oregon State Highway Dept, so we moved several times around the state. When I was 12, he decided he wanted to work for Federal Highways, so we moved to Khartoum Sudan Africa. We moved to Vancouver, WA when I was 14. Dad took a job with the Federal Forest Highways. We settled here and stayed. Dick & I were married in 1971. We joined Beautiful Savoir in 1976 and are charter members. I work with Sharon Houck with the contributions.
Chris and his wife Karen have been members of Beautiful Savior for several years. Chris is dedicated to the youth of our congregation and seeks to create a child centered experience in the nursery.
